Strokkur geyser—featured in the image—warms up winter in a completely different way. It is a fountain geyser known for its frequent and reliable eruptions. Located in the geothermal area beside the Hvítá River in Iceland, this geyser erupts every 6 to 10 minutes, shooting hot water 14 to 20 metres into the air, sometimes erupting up to 40 metres. The geothermal valley is also home to a variety of geothermal wonders, including bubbling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and other geysers.
